Assignment:  Elemental Growth

Medium: Wire, Foil, Paper, Fabric

Description:  Incorporating the material of wire in some way, explore the relationship between material/medium and form. In what way does the material an object is made from impact its form? Once you have discovered a form/element that you are drawn to, think about how you can manipulate its form using design principles of movement, balance, and/or rhythm in order to create an example of growth or change. Allow your use of the medium to inform your design process. In what ways can you use wire to create elemental growth and an aesthetically intriguing abstract sculptural design?

Aim: Explore the transformation of material to medium. Allowing process and play to guide your development, further investigate basic elements, i.e. line, plane, volume, mass, and texture, color, scale, movement, balance, rhythm, etc. Express a sense of growth in material form.
