Assignment: Texture to Pattern Quilt
Medium: Ink, Paint, Paper, Glue, Bristol Board
Description: First, using India ink on white paper, create as many different textures as possible. Use different tools and be creative. Next, using both visual textures from magazine, etc. and the textures you created in the previous exercise, cut up and arrange them into a quilt-like pattern. Focus on the design principles balance, rhythm, and unity/variety. Glue to Bristol board. (2 hrs)
Aim: Explore the relationship between mark making, texture, and pattern in composition. Investigate balance and rhythm as organizational principles.
